My Top 10 Favorite Vegan Food Products

Contrary to popular belief, vegans actually eat more than just avocados and açaí bowls (yes, I'm talking to all the non-vegans out there). Now don't get me wrong, we do eat a fair share both of both of those foods — plus just about every other fruit and vegetable known to man — but, we do also love vegan junk food (do those words even go together?). So, I've compiled a list of my top 10 favorite vegan food products (in no particular order) other than fruits and vegetables.

10. Greyston Bakery Vegan Fudge Brownies

Out of all the vegan brownies I've tasted, Gresyston Bakery takes the gold for the best one. They are the perfect dessert or snack, and they are great to eat plain or topped with some vegan ice cream. You've maybe even had them before and are just unaware; they have been supplying Ben and Jerry's with their brownies for 27 years and are the brownie bits in their new vegan flavor (Chocolate Fudge Brownie). You can find these brownies at Whole Foods and are usually located by the bakery. The brownies have a perfect texture and are even better heated up. Before finding this brand, I resorted to eating vegan bean brownies — trust me, they taste even worse than you're thinking. Greyston's brownies are so good that when I buy them I buy the whole box.

9. Vegenaise Eggless Mayonnaise

Vegan mayo makes the list for MANY reasons. In general, I'm not a big mayo fan, and before going vegan I avoided it as much as possible. But, after going vegan, and trying to make all the meals I eat from scratch, I found out how necessary mayo really is. I mean, I've used vegan mayo more times in my life since going vegan than I think I've used regular mayo in my entire life. My favorite brand is Vegenaise and it comes in different flavors and sizes. Since I'm not much of mayo person I opt for the original, but I'm sure the other flavors are equally as amazing. I use it to make coleslaw, different dips, vegan lobster salad and so much more.

8. Thrive Go Macro Chocolate Nut Sea Salt Bars

For me, having a good bar is a staple. I eat one everyday with my lunch and prior to finding this one I was constantly trying different bars. In general, Go Macro bars are some of my favorites. A couple of months ago I noticed that Go Macro had a new type of bar: Thrive bars. So, I tried this one and it has been my go to bar ever since. It has the perfect balance between the chocolate and the nuts, and the sea salt taste makes everything better. It also has just the right chewiness.

7. Chickenless Nuggets

Lets be real, who does't love a good chicken nugget? I'm just going to leave it at that.

6. Extra Firm Tofu

One of the things I love about being a vegan is that I have tried so many new foods that I wouldn't have tried had I not gone vegan. Before going vegan I saw tofu as this mysterious food that was weird, very weird. But, my mindset going into veganism was to try as many vegan friendly foods as I possibly could; so I decided to give tofu a try. Now, I always have a package of tofu in my house and making tofu scramble is my favorite. I personally like the extra firm tofu (although I have no actual reasoning behind that preference, except that every recipe I've made with tofu calls for it to be extra firm). So, if you haven't given tofu a try yet, just go for it!

5. Pretzilla Pretzel Buns

What's better than having the bun to your sandwich be a pretzel? Exactly, nothing.

4. Go Veggie Vegan Parmesan Cheese

Although I am not a fan of vegan cheese substitutes, Go Veggie's parmesan cheese is the most authentic tasting cheese replacement out there. It tastes the most, out of all the vegan cheeses I've had, like the cheese it is supposed to replicate. The texture is perfect as well. It's perfect to use on/in any dish that you would regularly use parmesan cheese. I put it in my homemade pesto, on top of my pizza, and on/in so many other recipes. If you haven't tried this already, I really recommend picking up a bottle. It comes in both a small container and a large container.

3. Daiya Margherita Pizza

I try to eat as little frozen food as possible, but when I do it's usually under the circumstance that I don't have enough time to cook myself a meal. So, in times like these I love to have somewhat healthier frozen foods. My recent go to has been Daiya's frozen pizza for multiple reasons. The first reason is the food looks like what the picture on the box looks likes. Don't you hate when the food looks nothing like what it's supposed to? That happens to me often. The second reason is because it's a great size. It's the perfect meal to share with someone if you want to have a smaller meal, but it's also the perfect meal to have by yourself if your feeling extra hungry. The last reason I really like this product is because it simply tastes great — that reason alone would make me continue to buy it!

2. Chia Seeds

Not only are chia seeds a great source of protein, but they also have no taste! That being said, I try to sneak them in to as many things as I can because of their numerous health benefits. I put them in my banana bread, avocado toast, tofu scramble, acai bowls, and so much more!

1. Ben and Jerry's Non-Dairy P.B. & Cookies

Although it doesn't taste exactly like the real thing, sometimes we all need to just dig into a tub of ice cream after a long day! Don't you agree?
